Random Geometry Group

The Random Geometry Centre under the School of Mathematics of the Ramakrishna Mission Swami Vivekananda Ancestral House and Cultural Centre is a centre for study and research across a broad spectrum of topics broadly unified under the rubric of random geometry. It has been set up in collaboration with the Infosys-Chandrasekharan Virtual Centre for Random Geometry, TIFR with broadly the same academic goals with a focus on the mathematical sciences.

Specific areas of research:
Ergodic Theory
Holomorphic dynamics
Geometry and Topology, including Geometric group theory, Hyperbolic geometry and Geometric Topology
Probability, including stochastic processes on different background geometries

The aim is to provide a platform in Kolkata where mathematicians (including PhD students and postdocs) belonging to different institutes in Kolkata with an interest in the above themes may come together with an aim of furthering scholarship and research. A number of mathematicians from institutes outside Kolkata who regularly visit Kolkata form an integral part of the centre.

Activities:
Research discussions and talks
Workshops and seminars
Mini-courses
Journal club
